Our projects are samples of possible solutions and futures. They present an opening for rethinking, redesigning and redoing.

bay window house

The design of the building plays a key role in the distinctive energy solutions. The volume is designed to create pressure differences that enable the air to move through the premises without mechanical fans. The air enters through valves, or windows, in the façade, which open and close as needed. When two windows open on different sides of the building, the pressure difference forces the air to move through the premises without the use of fans, so the air circulates.

The interior is shaped as one continuous space, where the four wings define different zones. The curved walls and ceilings form continuous surfaces clad with 4mm birch plywood. The plan is split into several levels, following the terrain, that also define different functional zones of the cabin. The steps between these levels provide spaces for seating and lying down.

The interior of the facility is divided into seating areas, large kitchen spaces, and a series of micro-restaurants that can function independently from the main kitchen. The interior and exterior design intent highlights what is background and foreground. Ceilings, tilework, lighting, and countertop materials are generally neutral and similar along the main meandering circulation, and subtle differences in tile pattern, texture, and graphic design features offer clues to the function of each station.
